Sony Tablet S is a mid segment targeted tablet by the Japanese multinational Conglomerate, Sony, that has Android ICS platform and this device will let the users browse the Internet, read electronic books and magazines, manage Word documents or Excel reports. There are surprising features loaded in this tablet which can bring a pleasant satisfaction to the user. Its wedge-shaped design sets itself apart from the rest of the offerings that are generally flat and are modeled after the iPad and ergonomically designed. The tablet feels comfortable to hold and seems lighter than it actually is. Besides looking different on the outside, Sony has customized the Android ICS interface by having a white background for the application menu and redesigning the icons and this gives the interface a different twist and makes using this Tablet more pleasurable. Amongst the existing breed of new tablets that are running on Android v.4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, Sony Tablet S does seem like a late entrant at a face-value. But in mean time, Sony has added several amazing features to really make the consumers happy and satisfied.
Sony Tablet S comes packed in a size of 241.2mm x 174.3mm x 10.1-20.6mm and carries a weight of 598 grams. It has a 9.4 inches wide TFT display with capacitive touchscreen which is capable of providing a screen resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels with 16M color depth and 161 ppi pixel density with multi touch facility. To enable the user to enjoy full music and video entertainment, it has 3.5mm headphone jack which helps in attaching the device with speakers or woofers but there is no support for FM radio, though the user can enjoy as it has support for various aural and video formats. For connectivity, this tablet comes loaded with options such as WiFi, DLNA, WLAN, Bluetooth, Infrared port and a USB port. The 5MP auto focus camera comes with features such as touch focus, image stabilization, Geo-tagging, face and smile detection and can capture images in a resolution of 2560 х 1920 pixels along with recording 720p videos and there is a secondary camera also of 0.3MP. This tablet by Sony is running on Android v.4.0 ICS platform that is the latest and mostly appreciated OS by Google and is powered by a Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 processor along with Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 chipset. The internal memory holds 16/32GB of storage with 1GB of RAM and the external memory can be extended up to 32GB. The standard Li-Ion 5,000 mAh battery is rechargeable and can keep the device alive up to 8 hours while performing various tasks such as video playback, audio playback and web browsing using Wi-fi a standby time up to 430 hours.
Sony Tablet S is a nice device which boasts multimedia features but it does not support any GSM network.

Sony Tablet S is the first ever tablet under the brand name Sony that is running on the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform, and features a unique unsymmetrical design in which the thickness of the device tapers from 20.6mm (0.81 inches) down to 10.1mm (0.40 inches). This "wrap" effect is intended to evoke an open paperback stuffed into the back pocket, or a magazine folded backward upon itself such that only a single page is visible to read and this design also reduces the amount of torque while being held and this off center gravity design realizes stability and ease of grip as well as provides a sense of stability and lightness that offers comfortable use for hours. This unique tablet comes packed in a size of 241.2mm x 174.3mm x 10.1mm to 20.6mm (going from down to top) and with a weight of 598 grams, this Sony tablet feels very solid in the hands and somewhat more stable and sturdy than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The updated platform bring a number of new unique features and enhancements where the key updates include enhanced camera and photo functions, user interface and usability improvements, and much more. The ergonomic, wedge-shaped form shifts weight closer to the side, making it feel ultra light in one hand. The thick part melting into a thin panel on the other side of the tablet means that if the users place it flat on a table in landscape mode, the slight incline or elevation makes typing very comfortable. This tablet can streams 15 million songs and the users can also download the latest movies from Sony Entertainment Network. It is a PlayStation certified device and acts as the universal remote control for the users and this all can be enjoyed on the TruBlack touchscreen display that provides brilliant and sharp ever viewing angles to the users. Sony Tablet S is dressed in a glossy black finish, on the complete plastic panel, which is a very high quality plastic, but this glossy finish is does not provide any protection to the screen against the scratches and fingerprints. The placement of dedicated keys and connectivity ports is slightly weird due to its unsymmetrical design. A reset, volume and main power buttons are in the right side indentation, while the 3.5 mm port, the USB port and the microSD card slot is on the left edge. The proprietary charging port is on the thinnest part of the tablet, that is, on the panel below the display, whilst the backside shows a 5 megapixels camera and it also has a 0.3 megapixels front facing camera. Like other Android devices, Sony Tablet S has no hardware navigation buttons, which are all implemented via persistent on-screen buttons. The only physical buttons present on the device are the power button and volume rocker located in the recessed area on one side. ]]>User Interface and UI functionality
Sony Tablet S is blessed with a LED-lit TruBlack unique panel display that has anti-reflection coating on it, which make it quite easier to for the users to work on the display even under the bright sunlight. The front of this smart tablet is glossy with a 9.4 inches wide TFT capacitive touchscreen display featuring 800 x 1280 pixels resolution with color combinations from 16M colors and a good pixel density of 161 ppi makes the display more clear, crisp and sharp. The users can give multiple commands to the device at one time through the display, as it provides support to multi touch facility up to 10 fingers. Sony Tablets S is sharing the latest and more advanced platform of Android, that is, Android v.4.0.3. Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, that allows access to more than 2,00,000 applications. The heart, that is, the processor (Cortex-A9) of this tablet throbbed at a clock rate of 1GHz and is dual core in nature that provides fast speed to the applications and makes the processing rate more accurate and quick. To pace up the working of this device, it comes preinstalled with Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 chipset and has ULP GeForce GPU that helps in improving the graphics performance of the device and also play a key role in brightening up every pixel of the display. The latest software technology by Sony brings fast web browsing at the users doorstep along with a more responsive touch panel and smooth animation through the menus. The users will appreciate the enhanced speed in everything they touch. The homescreen is customizable that allows the users to drag and drop icons and widgets according to their choice and need and there is a pull down notification bar on the top of the homescreen where one can view alerts and notifications and access their most recently used applications.
