Sony Ericsson W8 is a low-end smartphone which is running on the obsolete version of Android OS. This smartphone is an attempt to revive the walkman brand and it delivers an outstanding audio performance. The handset grabs the attention with its brightly colored back panel and its easy to use interface. It bears resemblance to Sony Xperia X8 and the front is covered with scratch resistant touchscreen, which shows amazing display from each angle. Sony Ericsson W8 is a small phone and fits very well in the palm of the hand. Coming with interchangeable back covers the phone lets you chose between the rather bright orange and a much more sober black. The screen has a yellowish tinge to it which makes everything look overtly warm. The right side of the phone has a camera button and a volume rocker divided into two parts for easy access and on the top it has a microUSB slot , a power key and a 3.5mm jack. The bottom and left sides do not have anything to note and the front of the phone has three buttons which correspond to the menu , home and back keys.
Sony Ericsson W8 comes packed in a size of 99 mm x 54 mm x 15 mm and holds 104 grams weight, which is very light and compactable to carry. The 3 inches wide TFT capacitive touchscreen, which provides a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels with 16M of color resolution along with 192 ppi pixel density. There is TimeScape UI on top of the old Android v.2.1 Eclair platform that allows the users to have customizable homescreen. The 3.5 mm jack allows the user to attach speakers or woofers and also the earphone works as an antenna for FM radio and this phone also has in-built loudspeakers. The internal memory contains 128 MB storage with 168 MB RAM and the microSD card slot allows the users to expand the external memory up to 16 GB. The 3.2 MP camera can captures images with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and Geo-tagging feature but there is no secondary camera on this phone. The standard Li-Ion 1,200 mAh battery can keep the device alive for talktime up to 4 hours 45 minutes and a standby time up to 446 hours on 2G and 476 hours on 3G network.
