Overall Review
Samsung has done well to cover most of the market segments in the Smartphone genre and that is probably the major reasons for its success in recent times. The company has not only catered to most sectors but created a new segment of its own with the Galaxy Note series which is now called the "Phablet Segment". But in other genres they have kept themselves in complete control by releasing the dual SIM versions of most of their successful handsets sensing the need of the hour. With more and more people needing Dual SIM handsets as globalization becomes relentless, Samsung has also evolved its strategy which is evident with the Samsung Galaxy Y Duos. It is a dual SIM version of Samsung Galaxy Y and has improved in various departments as compared to the original. The device has a 3.14 inch screen and weighs 109 grams. The device has a clean nonsense look and features the Android gingerbread operating system along with a 832 MHz processor which is pretty formidable.
RAM is a little less with 290 MB which could be a problem in terms of performance but the internal memory is good as a 2 GB memory card comes included in the device which is further backed by the microSD card slot. Camera is pretty good in terms of strength for the price range it features in with 3.15 megapixel. There is no secondary camera but the camera does offers lots of features including geo-tagging and auto focus. Battery is pretty solid with 1300 mAh which would come in useful for those who love the entertainment features like the music player and the video player. There is the FM radio facility with the RDS that would double their fun. Various data connectivity features are also pretty competent with Wi-Fi being quick with a little bit of lag on multiple operations. All in all, a good device with plenty to offer.
User Interface and UI functionality
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos has a 3.14 inch screen that gives a resolution of 240 by 320 pixels along with a pixel density of 127 ppi. The TFT capacitive touch screen gives 256k colors and is backed by the Samsung TouchWiz technology.
Multimedia features
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos has a music player that lets the user listen to all the popular musical tracks that the entertainment world has to offer. The music player is compatible with the formats MP3, WAV and eAAC+ player while the video player supports MP4, WMV and H.264 player. There is also the Radio FM facility where the RDS lets the user record their favourite songs. The video player allows the user to watch videos with decent quality. The music can be heard through the loudspeakers or through the earphones that can be attached to the device with the help of a 3.5 mm jack.
Pictures and Video quality
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos comes with a 3.15 megapixel camera which works okay at best and lets the user click pictures at a resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels. The Geo-Tagging facility that comes with the camera makes sure that the user can tag their friends and family in the pictures they have clicked.
Internet support
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos works with the HTML browser and has the Wi-Fi facility along with the Wi-Fi hot-spot that lets the user access the web and download data like music files, games, images and videos. The user can log on to Facebook and post updates as well.
Internal and External Memory
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos has a internal memory 160 MB but a 2 GB memory card comes included with the device which can be further expanded up to 32 GB with the help of a microSD card slot thus making sure that the user can keep a large collection of data without worrying about the memory space running out. The data that can be stored may include music files, games, images and videos. The RAM of 290 MB is not that great and does slow down the device on occasions.
Applications and Gaming
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos has a loads of games and apps that are preinstalled in the device but the device cannot play high profile games as the RAM is not that great but other smaller games can be downloaded from the web with the Android gingerbread there to back it up with large pool of choices.
Battery Backup
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos runs on the standard lithium ion battery of 1300 mAh that gives the user a talk time of up to 9 hours along with a standby time of up to 9 hours. The battery is pretty decent and lets the user operate on the device for a long duration.
Connectivity Offered
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos has the Wi-Fi hot spot that gives the user access to the web while the bluetooth facility lets them connect with other devices and exchange data with it. There is also the US port that makes sure that the user can connect with computers and laptops for charging purposes or retrieving and transferring data. GPRS and EDGE facility is also provided.
Compare
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos when compared to HTC explorer has a slightly smaller screen with the former having a 3.14 inch screen as compared to the latte's 3.20 inch. Both the device feature the Android Ginger bread operating system. Samsung Galaxy Y Duos has a better battery life and thus a longer talk time and a standby time as compared to HTC explorer but the latter has a longer talk time and standby time in 3G. The camera strength is similar for both the devices but I terms of looks HTC Explorer edges out Samsung Galaxy Y Duos. Both the device has a microSD card slot but the processor is better and more powerful for Samsung Galaxy Y Duos with respect to HTC Explorer.
News Updates

With Samsung Galaxy Y Duos, they not only get the quality, but also the brand name. The device has been very successful and for good reasons with Wi-Fi being really quick for a device falling in the price range Samsung Galaxy Y Duos is featured in.
