Overall Review
Samsung Galaxy S Plus is an improvised elder sibling of Samsung Galaxy S which covers all the defects and missing features that the latter has. This smartphone looks much like Apple iPhone and has stylish looks with shiny chromium bezel that runs all around the device to provide a grip to the phone and sturdiness. The body outlook somewhat resembles its predecessor with the same sleek case having a hardware button for home and two softkeys for the context menu and the back button, USB port and 3.5 mm jack on the top, volume control keys on the left side and the lock key on the right side. Galaxy S Plus is still impossibly light though, and this has to be one of the most impressive things about this handset. On comparing this Samsung mobile to almost any other Android handset, one will get amazed that how the company has managed to keep this phone feather light that weighs only 119 grams with a depth of 9.9 mm, width of 64.2 mm and 122.4 mm of height that makes this smartphone to be easily placed in your pocket without increasing the bulk. The device comes with a metallic finish that provides you a premium style to show off. The new upgraded Galaxy S Plus, which is a bar phone, brings you a smarter, advanced mobile experience that can only be summed up as the best of the best. ]]>User Interface and UI functionality
Samsung Galaxy S Plus comes with a customizable user interface with a new touch by Samsung which proves that the company does not always follow the standard look and feel of Android. This is most noticeable with the launcher or home screen, but is a much lighter touch than something like HTC Sense. There are some widgets that can be used to add information about weather, stocks and news to your home screens. For interaction with the home screen, this device comes with a large 4 inch super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of C-type which has WVGA display made of Corning Gorilla Glass that provides stability and sturdiness to the screen and makes it scratch proof and fingerprints resistant giving a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels along with 16M of color depth and has TouchWiz UI of version 3.0. This is an another sibling of Galaxy series high end smartphones that is running on Android v.2.3 Gingerbread (which is upgradeable to Android v.4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich) OS and the heart beats of this sleeky bar phone clocked at 1.4 MHz Scorpion processor embedded with Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon chipset and its brain is powered by Adreno 205 GPU. Samsung Galaxy Y Plus is available in Black and White color. This processor speed is 40% faster than the processor speed in Samsung Galaxy S thus making it a better option for the customer. ]]>Multimedia features
Samsung Galaxy S Plus is loaded with amazing features that are capable of providing full on entertainment to the user 24 x 7, nonstop, where the user will feel delighted with its usage and will keep on diving in the world of amusement. This smartphone is capable of playing 64 polyphonic ringtones where the music can be recorded in MP3 and WAV formats and it has a music library too along with support for various audio playback formats like MP3, WAV, eAAC+, AC3 and FLAC player. There are in built speakers along with a jack for 3.5 mm earphones that enables the user to attach their device to other speakers and woofers so that the whole environment can be filled with the notes of music. A full HD video of size 720p with 30 frames per second, having a picture resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels can be played as well as recorded in this handy phone and various video formats like MP4, H.263, H.264, WMV, DivX and Xvid player are supportable over this device so that the user can have access on each type of video or music. Video ringtone and video telephony can also be accessed on Samsung Galaxy S Plus. Apart from the stored data of music and videos, the user can also listen to FM radio to refresh himself. The FM radio comes with RDS technology that enables the user to record their favorite song from the radio so that they can listen to it whenever they want to. ]]>Pictures and Video quality
Samsung Galaxy S Plus is quite depressing on the camera part as it does not have support for flash that allows the user to click images even when the light is dim. The device also lacks a dedicated key for the camera, so that the user can easily open it and click the memorable moments of their life with the flick of an eye. The 5 MP camera at the rear end has auto focus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection features where the photos can be taken in various modes like Single shot, Continuous, Panorama, Beauty, Vintage, Self shot, Action shot, Addme, Cartoon shot and Smile shot with Normal, Negative, Black & White and Sepia effects along with white balance that allows the user to have fun while taking the snaps. The images are stored in .JPEG format. This camera is also capable of recording a full video with a resolution of 720p at 30fps and the resolution of images clicked with this 5 MP camera is 2592 x 1944 pixels which provides a crystal clear view to the photograph. ]]>Internet support
Samsung Galaxy S Plus comes with a fast processor that helps in doing the work faster and accurately. This smartphone uses an HTML and Adobe Flash browser to browse the various sites that works at an instant fast speed and makes the browsing experience of the user wide and enriched. It allows support of GPRS and EDGE of class 12, 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi and DLNA support via WLAN, Bluetooth v.3.0 and a support for micro USB to exchange data with your PC or laptop. This allows the user to enter into the huge world of social connectivity where one can share their pictures, videos, and information with the rest of the world. Some of such sites are Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, GTalk, Facebook, Orkut, etc. ]]>Internal and External Memory
Samsung Galaxy S Plus is blessed with an optional internal memory of either 8 GB or 16 GB, depending upon the customers choice, with 512 MB of RAM and ROM. The microSD card slot allows the user to expand the external memory upto 32 GB and thus making this device a huge store of information and data. ]]>Applications and Gaming
Samsung Galaxy S Plus gives the facility of downloading their favorite games from Samsung Applications and Android market and apart from that, the user can also download games from other sites according to their preference and like. In accordance with this, this giant store bag also allows the access to various applications like Samsung Hub, Document viewer, Image/video editor, Samsung Kies, Mobile Tracker, Google Calender, Android Market, etc. and along with these applications Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off and Digital compass to know the direction and the current location of the user, are also pre-installed over this handset that makes it a complete package. ]]>Battery Backup
Samsung Galaxy S Plus comes loaded with a standard Li-Ion 1,650 mAh battery that allows a talk time of 1 h 40 minutes on 2G network, 470 minutes on 3G and 220 minutes on video calling. This powerful battery can keep the phone alive for 430 hours at standby mode. ]]>Connectivity Offered
Samsung Galaxy S Plus supports GSM connectivity at 2G network at a bandwidth of 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and at 3G network at a bandwidth of 900/1900/2100 MHz with the HSDPA speed of 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA speed of 5.76 Mbps. It also provides connectivity to GPS and NFC. ]]>Compare
Samsung Galaxy S Plus comes with a 40% fast processor speed as compared to its predecessor, Samsung Galaxy Y, and also has a good quality video output, Wi-Fi hotspot and a large battery capacity but Galaxy Y Plus lacks in the faster downloading and uploading speed, average latency and long talk time to its younger sibling. Overall, Samsung Galaxy Y Plus is a better option to purchase due quality performance. ]]>News Updates
Samsung Galaxy S Plus is a very lovable smartphone by the company that bears resemblance to its own sibling Samsung Galaxy S. This smartphone was announced in the month of April in the year 2011 and was released during the same year in the month of July. At the time of release, it was running on Android Gingerbread v.2.3.4 platform and had TouchWiz UX UI on top of this operating system. This handset is still available in the market but since it was released, it hasn’t got any updates in terms of its platform as well as its user interface. However, it can be upgraded to Android v.4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich unofficially as no update is available on the air from the company’s side.
