Nokia X3 02 Review

The Nokia X3 02 is a “Touch and Type” smartphone that looks smarter than its C-series cousins and runs the Series 40 6th edition of Symbian operating system. The phone is extremely thin and lightweight and can be held in hands very comfortably, thanks to its curves and contoured back. The build quality is solid and design of the phone is superb.

Nokia X3 02 just has a 2.4-inch touch display and Nokia's Series 40 6th edition operating system has been altered to run on this touchscreen with help of a thumb. The effort has actually gone in vain because of the smaller size of the display. Though we like the fact that everything can be accessed by a single click and there is no need of a double-tap. The touch response of the display is good and along with that there is an excellent and precise haptic feedback, which gives the impression of pressing a button when the screen is touched. The keypad layout on the X3 02 is not conventional but the keys are nice, large and give instant response. The homescreen is customizable and users have four panels to choose their options from. Nokia has enabled GetJar as an additional source for downloading apps apart from the Ovi Store. Absence of support for social networking apps on the Nokia X3 02 is disappointing. It might drift away the younger audiences from this, otherwise, nice handset. To minimize the effect, a mail client and a IM application support has been provided in Nokia X3 02.

The 5-megapixels fixed focus camera of Nokia X3 02 is not as good as is expected from a large 5-megapixel sensor. The outcome is clear, images are noisy and lack details. Due to lack of flash, low light images are even poorer in quality. The camera records videos at 15 fps. The video player surprisingly supports XVID codec. The Nokia X3 02 is a GSM phone that supports HSDPA 10.2 mbps, HSUPA 2 mbps, class 10 EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth version 2.1.  Wi-Fi is included in this phone but gets wasted because the web browser is not as per the expectations. Even the HSPA connectivity is wasted in absence of video calling functionality in the phone. There is no GPS in the Nokia X3-02. The web browser on the X3-02 is bad. The web page loading is too slow and it is best to use only the mobile optimized web sites on this device. Nokia X3 02 is a far too simple phone. Its features and performance can't meet expectations of everyone but for the Nokia patrons and those who wish to carry a light and portable smartphone along, Nokia X3 02 is a decent choice.
