Micromax Q1C Review
The new Micromax Q1C is an entry level CDMA mobile phone at a very low price. But Micromax has tried to make it stand out with two special effects, one is the QWERTY keypad which is unique in affordable mobiles and second is the the bright color scheme in which the phone is available, namely white, black and sparkling yellow. The colorful 5 cm screen with decent resolution makes it look atractive. The single SIM Micromax Q1C allows user to type and text so fast that all youngsters are more than happy.
Micromax Q1C comes with all the basic features including FM Radio and Audio Player to offer effective entertainment to users. Not to forget, the handset also engulf some preloaded games for passing idle times. The QWERTY bar phone can store about 300 phone book enteries and 500 SMS. But the memory can be expanded externally upto 2GB leaving behind the tension of limited spacing. Another outstanding feature of Micromax Q1C is the LED torch showing user the path whenever he feels lost in dark. Overall the basic QWERTY phone at such an affordable price will definitely be a buy as the first phone and also for those who loves texting.
Overall Review
The Micromax Q1C is a ravishing QWERTY bar CDMA handset available in a range of exciting colors. Its elegant design, 2.0 inch TFT color display and QWERTY keypad are a killer combination that shall make it an eye catcher. It is available in Black, Yellow and White colors. It also has an in built LED Torch Light along with standard personal information management features like calendar, clock, calculator and voice recorder.
The other goodies inside Micromax Q1C are pre-installed games, audio player, GPRS, WAP browser, 2 GB micro SD card and 1000 mAH battery. The respective length, width and height of Micromax Q1C are 107.95 mm x 56.2 mm x 12.85 mm. It is clear and not assumed that it is a bit sleek and pocket friendly device. It is very light weight and just weighs 81 grams. In addition, it is extremely affordable handset being priced in range of Rs. 1800 to Rs. 2000. It is not an exaggeration that there isn’t any entry-level mobile phone so stylish like the Micromax Q1C at present in the market though it has a few competitors with better camera units and good battery backup.
User Interface and UI functionality
The candy bar form factor, QWERTY keypad and a TFT color screen. Things can’t get better for the users of Micromax Q1C. This newly launched entry level mobile phone is so stylish and so easy to use that one need not think twice before opting for it. It is very easy to type on its QWERTY keypad because it is broad, keys are well spaced and keypad has a soft touch. Using its keypad is a delight and everything appears so vivid and clear on its 2.0 inch TFT color display with 262K colors that one is not left with any issues on its user friendliness. The screen resolution is of 220 X 176 pixels and that is quite okay too.
Multimedia features
Micromax Q1C has decent multimedia features and functionality. Its audio player is capable of playing multiple formats. The player plays music in MIDI, MP3 audio formats and favourite tracks of the users can also be heard on by tuning in to favorite radio channels. The phone has a stereo FM radio integrated inside it. In all, the audio experience on Micromax Q1C is quite good because the phone has good loudspeakers and good 3.5 mm audio jack. It also support polyphonic and MP3 ringtones.
Pictures and Video quality
Since Micromax Q1C does not have a camera, the question of the picture and video quality do not arise.
Internet support
Micromax Q1C finds network support on single 800 MHz CDMA network. Not being a typical smartphone with high-end features, Micromax Q1C does not support most of the Internet services. It has a class 12 GPRS network connection and WAP browser that will let users connect to their respective network for availing MMS facility at the most and exchange picture messages and video clips. The phone users should feel satisfied in getting at least this facility. However, there is no room for emailing and online chatting on the phone. Also, GPS assisted navigation cannot be carried out with this handset.
Internal and External Memory
Micromax Q1C CDMA handset offers good internal and external memory to its users. It allows external memory by expansion of memory with a compatible 2GB microSD card. The phone also let users save round about 300 phonebook contacts and up to 500 SMS inside its internal memory.
Applications and Gaming
There are no pre-installed applications but only pre-installed games on the Micromax Q1C to keep its users engaged and amused. It just has the standard set of PIM (Personal Information Management) features like calculator, clock and calendar etc. Additionally, it has a LED Torch.
Battery Backup
The makers have fitted Micromax Q1C with a 1000mAh capacity Li-ion type battery and the USB port of the phone serves as a recharging point for the battery only. Micromax Q1C has an average battery backup. One can avail a talk time of about 5 hours and can keep the phone on standby for up to 12 days.
Connectivity Offered
Micromax Q1C CDMA handset would let users connect locally for data exchange with compatible devices because a USB cable comes with the phone. Disappointingly, local data sharing and transfer cannot be achieved via Bluetooth on Micromax Q1C. It keeps its users connected via SMS and MMS messaging services.
Compare
No other phone boasts of such a design and an overall a decent specs list at such a price tag. In its class and lower price segment of mobiles, Micromax Q1C is a winner as it has a very nice bar form with a QWERTY keypad to add glitz and panache to its overall design. Yet, another domestic brand, Lava has made a good phone to compete with it. It is Lava IQ 707 dual SIM phone. It is contrastingly a GSM phone. It has a nice 2.2 inches wide TFT display with good resolution and a very comfortable keypad. It is also very light at just 96 grams. It has a trackball which makes the user experience really smooth. The biggest plus point of this phone is that it also has a 3.2 megapixel camera, which works well in most lighting conditions. Unfortunately, the Micromax Q1C lacks a camera altogether and that has made its multimedia specs list suffer from a serious limitation. While Lava IQ 707 doesn't have connectivity options but at least has Bluetooth. Micromax Q1C just has a GPRS and WAP browser and also misses this vital local data connectivity tool. Both the domestic makes have their own set of goodies and we are impressed that at such an affordable price, such facilities will be at disposal of their buyers. Lava IQ 707 looks and feels good and is better than what its price is. It can be bagged at just Rs 2,800 while Micromax Q1C shall be available at even less. It is priced below a price tag of Rs. 2000.
