Micromax Andro A60 Review
Micromax Andro A60 has an innovative and unique design though it is hard to describe its form factor. Micromax has yet again created a different kind of smartphone running on popular Android operating system version 2.1 Éclair. The full touch-screen phone has a 2.8” resistive touch-screen that may not go well with many prospective buyers but it is has been consciously put on the phone so that the price of the phone remains low. The five way nav-keypad of Andro A60 does not light up and that make use of the touch sensitive buttons, nav pad and call keys cumbersome.
There’s a 600 MHz processor in Micromax Andro A60 which helps in multi-tasking but the user-interface of the phone isn’t customized. Perhaps, a conventional UI is not used in Micromax Andro A60 though one can play around with some good options like choose from a range of input methods like QWERTY with Swype style, half QWERTY, alphanumeric and intuitive handwriting recognition. On the whole UI of the Andro A60 flows quite smoothly and makes accessing of apps and games a relatively quick and easy process. The memory of Micromax Andro A60 can be expanded using a microSD card but the issue is that card doesn’t work consistently. It gets unexpectedly removed or un-mounted on its own.
The media player of Micromax Andro A60 is compromised. The handsfree of the phone look cheap and does not ooze out acceptable quality of sound. The in-built speakers give out high tones and audible bass. While the video player of the phone runs varied video formats, the problem with audio remains an issue. The connectivity options aren’t that poor in case of Micromax Andro A60. There’s GPS, 3G and Wi Fi to keep users connected while on the move. The 3G enabled Andro A60 is able to handle HSDPA connectivity speeds up to 7.2 mbps and EDGE/GPRS and Wi Fi also works over it almost hassle-free. One can locally share data over Bluetooth with A2DP and also tether to Internet via USB. Disappointingly, GTalk IM client is absent while access to Google based other services like YouTube and Google Maps is rendered on Andro A60. Also, one will have to download Facebook and Twiiter from Android Market.
The built in 3.2 megapixels camera is also one of the nice features of Micromax Andro A60. It has limited features but still it produces sharp and clear results.
No doubt that Micromax Andro A60 is quite an affordable Android smartphone but it has some serious flaws. We feel that the poor multimedia features and poor battery life of the phone are reasons enough to eliminate it from the list of reliable Android devices.
