HTC Ville Review

The most recent creation from HTC's 'vivid' portfolio is an upcoming Android smartphone HTC Ville anticipated to be announced in the late first quarter of 2012. The new HTC Ville will be HTC's first smartphone to feature Android's latest release Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Although running Android 4.0 version software will not be the only exceptional feature of this technical gizmo, it will simultaneously amaze with its brand new innovative HTC Sense User Interface version 4.0. Embellishing with the technological advancements, the touch phone still would gracefully carry its customary inheritance.

HTC Ville stuns with the sensational 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display. The qHD is not same as HD, but not bad either. The Super AMOLED display form a dreaded PenTile matrix layout for sub-pixel offering a crisp, sharp and bright screen. The smartphone adorns a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor in a super-slim chassis less than 8mm thick. The sleek and stylish touch phone offers rich multimedia and multi window browsing experience in both 2G and 3G networks. HTC Sense User Interface sports a rejuvenated home screen with all the new apps and widgets.

HTC Ville with Beats Audio comes inbox with custom made Beats headsets, diligently engineered to deliver extraordinary sound to play MP3 and MP4 formats. The specially defined software and user interface is tuned to deliver mobile audio experience like never before. The touch phone does not miss out on stereo FM Radio with RDS. HTC Ville also encapsulate the latest HTC content services, like HTC Listen music store, HTC Read bookstore and HTC Play gaming hub to offer more.

With the prodigious 8 mega pixel instant capture camera, the photo is clicked just at the moment when you press the button, will never let you miss the great shot. Shooting the video is also phenomenal with high resolution capturing at 1080p HD making you fall in love with photography. With 1 GB RAM, internal memory can store almost unlimited phone book entries and messages but still there is an option to extend it further through microSD card upto 32 GB. It seems, Ville does not have NFC on-board which is may be due to the metal body. Offers connectivity through EDGE, GPRS and 3G options to add on the ease of transfer through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The HTC Ville’s is definitely going to make a mark and existence will follow the unveiling of HTC Edge.

Overall Review

HTC Ville can be touted as an amazing device but this one is still just on papers. HTC Ville, just like HTC Edge has not been officially announced. Its preliminary specifications are impressive but it may take some time to actually ascertain its true worth. It is our belief that HTC has plans to unveil HTC Ville in the coming Mobile World Congress to be held in February 2012. It is also speculated that the phone will launch by April, second quarter of 2012.

The most amusing is the fact that HTC Ville will house the latest Android operating system v 4.0 (also referred to as Ice cream sandwich) and also all new HTC Sense 4.0 UI. It also houses an incredibly powerful dual-core Snapdragon processor of 1.5 GHz. The phone shall look dashing in its ultra-thin chassis of 8 mm thickness and with its 4.3 inches wide qHD super AMOLED touch display panel. An 8 mega pixels camera, a 1650 mAH battery, enhanced Beats audio, 1080p HD video recording capability are the other prominent goodies of this device. It has expectedly packed in huge memory support besides a very powerful 1.5 GHz Snapdragon dual core processor. The memory is ample as it is expandable to upper limit of 32 GB. The multimedia features are awesome. The music on Android music player and Beats audio system is very enjoyable. The camera is of 8 mega pixels can shoot 1080 p HD videos. HTC Ville has a HTML browser and support of all kinds of Google services.

User Interface and UI functionality

The magnanimous touch display screen of HTC Ville is sized at 4.3 inches. This qHD super AMOLED display will show 16 million colors in unblemished quality at 256 ppi pixels density. The phone has an amazing hardware and its user interface is it’s another prominent highlight. It ships with Android v 4.0 Ice cream sandwich and latest HTC Sense UI v 4.0. This Android based touch-screen phone has a charming external design. It is very sleek and just measures around 8 mm in thickness. Its body color is Black. The HTC Ville performance also remains unquestionable due to packed-in 1.5 GHz dual core processor. It is very sleek as it just measures less than 8 mm in thickness. This can be attributed to the metal construction of this phone. HTC interface is not very complex and extremely user friendly. There is option of several customizable home screens on this device.

Multimedia features

The default Android music player, YouTube Player, video player, 8 mega pixels camera, secondary camera and the Beats audio makes the multimedia department of HTC Ville very impressive.  This music player runs Mp3/AAC/AAC+/WAV audio formats. The primary camera of 8 mega pixels is capable of clicking great images and captures 1080 p HD videos.

Pictures and Video quality

The A/F 8-megapixel primary camera of the HTC Ville clicks images at 3264 X 2448 pixels resolution. The primary camera sports several features like digital zoom, LED flash and face detection. It supports 1080 p HD video recording at 60 fps which is simply great. The picture quality of the clicked images and videos, however, can be actually ascertained only after the device is tested in real time. The flaws in audio quality, problems like voice distortions and stability can be judged only when the camera of the phone is used for testing.

Internet support

It is expected that the overall Internet experience on HTC Ville will be great as the high end device boasts very fast processing speed, new and advanced operating system and a very user friendly HTC Sense UI. The Google's apps and services, e-mails exchange, messages and chats can be fully enjoyed at huge speeds over HSPA + network support that promises a theoretical maximum of 14.4Mbps download speeds.  There might be slight problems with loading of heavy web pages but touch screen controls like pinch to zoom might make things easy for users and deliver better performance while web browsing and reading mails and clearly viewing them on screen once they get opened.

Internal and External Memory

HTC Ville has could expand its memory with a 32GB microSD card but the exact internal memory storage of the phone is still under wraps. Nevertheless, it is a high end smartphone which is expected to have more than enough space for keeping record of phonebook entries, messages and other multimedia data.

Applications and Gaming

It is certain that Android Based HTC Ville will house basic pre-installed apps of Android like some Music apps and social networking apps viz. Facebook, Twitter etc. it is also quite likeable that more apps and games can be downloaded via the Android Market resource. However, the lack of LTE and NFC in this case due to its metal construction is a huge flaw.

Battery Backup

A powerful 1650 mAh capacitybattery is placed inside HTC Ville and it must be so robust so as to support the fast speed and run multiple applications. The dual core processors of the phone must be really taxing on this battery and a lot is expected from it in terms of performance.

Connectivity Offered

HTC Ville offers connectivity features like A-GPS for navigation and Bluetooth v 4.0 with A2DP,EDR,  Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and a microUSB for local data connectivity. The quad-band 850/900/1800/1900MHz frequencies over GSM network supports impressive call quality and great Internet speeds can be accessed over this device with HSDPA 3G network bands.

Compare

HTC Ville is among the first smartphones to be launching with Android operating system version Ice Cream Sandwich and that is coupled with all new HTC Sense 4.0 UI. The hardware and software of this upcoming HTC device are so novel and advanced that only high end Android based devices under different brand flagships (for instance, Motorola, Samsung etc. ) can only give it some competition. It is a phone which may easily fall in the category of Samsung Galaxy Nexus, an Android Gingerbread handset with 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor. It can give some serious competition to Google Nexus which has excellent looks, wide 4.0 inch touch display screen, excellent dual cameras and best of connectivity and Internet support services.
