Compare

HTC Desire HD is a good handset with super slick UI, great browsing speed, Dolby Mobile and SRS virtual surround sound, decent e-book reader and very easy to connect contacts but has poor battery life, no OLED screen, has suspect build quality, the video player needs overhauling and bugs in HTCSense.com connectivity. Overall it has amazing features but the obsolete OS will make it face tough competition from Samsung Galaxy Y Pro, Samsung Galaxy Duos, Sony Xperia Sola, Sony Xperia P and lots more smartphone that falls under the same range.

News Updates

The latest from HTC is quite depressing for those who own the phone and for those who had plans to buy it some time soon. There will be no Ice Cream Sandwich update for HTC Desire HD. While it was earlier in this year that the company had given hopes of an Android 4.0 update, just as soon as the update was expected, the mobile manufacturer came up to deny the news. HTC Desire HD is not getting any Ice Cream Sandwich update, now or any time in the near future. The software update has been cancelled, officically and publicly. Thus leaving the users with Gingerbread. This came from HTC India on a public platform of Facebook. Along with HTC Desire HD, which runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, HTC had announced updates for HTC Desire S and HTC Sensation, all the three running on Gingerbread.

HTC now has to say that Ice Cream Sandwich is not all that good; however, it is not the first time that any mobile manufacturer has said so. Earlier Motorola and Sony too had the same to suggest. Though the phone is 2 years old now, which when phones are considered is not just a sold, but the period is long enough for updates. And also the users would by now be on the verge of expiring their time limits for updates. With many phones now coming with Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean, time that Desire HD owners now have had an update to a better level.
