Android Mobile Phones in India 2013
Android is one of the most successful operating system for mobiles. It is a linux-based operating system that is now being led by Google. Although Google was not the original developer of the software, they bought the software in 2005 and made it open source in the year 2007 with the help of Open Handset Alliance. Open Handset Alliance is a consortium of 86 hardware, software and telecommunication companies that work towards the advancement of the opensource standards.
Since the day when Google was declared as a open source system under Apache licence, the sofware has acted as a operating system platform for over 300 million devices worldwide. Canalys also listed the software as the best-selling smartphone platform worldwide in the fourth quarter of the year 2010. Andy Rubin from Google has also stated that as of February 2012, around 850,000 Android devices are activated everyday.
Earlier known as Android Market, Google Play application has witnessed 10 billion downloads as recorded till December 2011. There are total 130 million Android phones.
As far as the Google Android phone list goes, best android phone includes Samsung Android phones, Motorola Android phones, Nokia Android phones, HTC Android phones to name a few.
There are various upcoming Android phones expected to hit the market soon as well.
The lowest priced Android phone is Micromax Funbook at Rs.299 while the more popular one would be Samsung Galaxy S4 priced at Rs. 37,699. Currently there are no Android phone available under 1000 in India but numerous options are there when the range under Rs. 1000 is taken into consideration. Apart from Samsung Galaxy Y, there is Acer beTouch at Rs. 6,239. Then there are many additional combinations with Android available like Wi-Fi, touchscreen and dual SIM. Various Android Wi-Fi mobiles include Samsung Galaxy Y, Samsung Galaxy Ace and Samsung Galaxy Note.
